Do I have to pay anything to be in a contest? NO! If you are nominated for a Best Of Sacramento contest, you will never be required to pay anything. You can pay to advertise on our website or market to our 30k+ followers on social media and email BUT our contests are 100% free (we even give you free access to our promotional materials so you can start getting votes in 5 minutes or less for free!).

When and how do you pick the winner? Most “best of the best” competitions pick a winner every year. However, here at We Want Sacramento our team felt strongly that a LOT can change in a year. After some entertaining discussions we decided that the best option would be to pick a “best of the best” for each month using public votes. This means at the end of every month our team picks the the business with the most votes and declares them the best of the best of Sacramento! We then reset all votes to zero for the next month. This way we guarantee that our best of the best are freshest, most up to date lists in Sacramento!
How do I get people to vote for my business? Good question! It’s actually easier then you think. The best way to promote your business for the Best of Sacramento contest is just ask. Ask the people who buy your product and service, ask your friends, ask your family. If you prefer to use our tested and proven scripts, just fill out the Claim My Business form (at the bottom of this page). You will be sent unique emails, social media posts and even scripts created just for your business to help you get votes quickly and easily. Oh by the way, did we mention we do all this for free?
How many times can someone vote for my business? A person can vote once every 24 hours (so make sure to promote the contest regularly on social media, your email list, etc.)
How will I know if my business won? If you filled out the Claim My Business form (scroll down to the bottom of this page) you will be notified via email and phone using the information you left on the form. You will also get access to our promotional material which is free if you fill out the Claim My Business form at the bottom of this page.
We also announce all winners to our 30k+ fans on Facebook and also via our 5k+ subscribers Sacramento VIPers Email List. We announce all winners within 48 hours of the last day of each month.
My business is nominated but my competitors are all bigger then me, why should I even try? Great question and one of the primary reasons we designed the contests to be monthly instead of yearly! We routinely see small companies with loyal fan bases beat out the “big dogs” in the area for the best of the best simply because they promoted their nomination better.
Just promoting your nomination on your website, in your store/office, on your Facebook page and via email once to twice a week is usually more then enough to secure you 1st place.
Even better, simply promoting the fact that you were nominated builds trust in your business and brings in additional revenue regardless of if you win Best of the Best or not. Make sure to put the Nominated for Best of the Best logo we give you on your website to help get votes and build trust with new visitors. If you don’t have your logo embed code make sure to fill out the Claim My Business form (scroll down) and someone from our support will get back to you ASAP.
Will being nominated increase my revenue? In simple terms, yes! First, when you are nominated you get to use our “Nominated for Best of the Best” logo on your website. Even if you don’t win, you get to keep this logo on your website which will instantly increase trust in your business when someone visits. If you get nominated multiple months in a row, you get to put up a “Nominated for Best of the Best” logo for each month you were nominated.
Imagine having a row of awards on your website? Would that help convince people to use your company? Absolutely! Having multiple Nominated Logos on your website will greatly increase trust and conversions for visitors.
How many people see or vote in these contests and what does it mean for my business? On average, each nominated business sends 100 to 500 people each month to the contest page to vote. We usually have 5 to 12 nominated businesses in each category. This means each contest sees anywhere from 500 to 6000 eyeballs just from voters alone. After voting, we see about 20-30% of the voters try out the other nominated businesses which means you will see additional interest just from voters.
Our website also sees several thousand visitors each month looking for the best local businesses, events and things to do. When they search our site, they will find our contests and check out the businesses who are nominated.
This all adds up to several hundred to several thousand new visitors to your business just for being nominated. Best of all, we never charge you to be a nominee which means you get all of this new business for free!
Can I buy ads or pay for advertising on your site to get additional revenue? You sure can! On each contest page, we allow one company to put a banner advertisement which links to their website at the very top of the page. This means that every single person who comes to the page will see the banner ad before they see anything else. Again, we only allow ONE business to purchase this ad spot so its first come first serve. This is an incredibly effective ad because it only shows on that page to visitors who are interested in your service or product.
We also have additional ad spots available such as in the header area and right sidebar area of our site. These ads show up on every page on our website and drive people back to your website.
You can also buy marketing “blasts” that we send out to our 30k+ audience on Facebook and/or our 5k+ email subscribers. To qualify for a blast you must be willing to provide a special offer for your product or service that is unavailable at a cheaper price/rate anywhere else.
