Roseville police recovered a body Wednesday in a secluded, marshy area between Interstate 80 and North Sunrise Avenue, near 24 Hour Fitness and The Home Depot.

Department spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther said Friday via email that the body has been identified as 32-year-old Samuel Dee Stratton-Brooks.

Stratton-Brooks, a developmentally-disabled homeless man, had been reported missing by his family on May 3 after they’d last seen him in late April in the 200 block of Harding Boulevard.

Gunther said Thursday it was impossible to tell how long the body had been at the site or its cause of death.

“What we found yesterday were mostly skeletal remains,” Gunther said.
